Grade 9 · Year 4Teacher Resource

Electronics

Students design and build an electronic product using microcontrollers, sensors and output devices. The unit introduces circuit design, programming logic and the input-process-output model, culminating in a working prototype that responds to real-world conditions.

Students identify a problem that can be solved with an electronic system, analyse existing solutions, research relevant components and technologies, and develop a design brief.

Criterion A teacher notes and task guidance will be added here.

Students develop a design specification, create system flow diagrams and circuit schematics for multiple design options, and select a preferred solution with justification.

Criterion B teacher notes and task guidance will be added here.

Students assemble and program the electronic prototype, document the build and coding process, troubleshoot issues, and record evidence of iterative testing and refinement.

Criterion C teacher notes and task guidance will be added here.

Students evaluate the functioning prototype against the specification, reflect on circuit and programming decisions, consider product impact, and propose improvements.

Criterion D teacher notes and task guidance will be added here.
